Charminar Hyderabad – A Great Historical Monument Offering Grandeur

July 28, 2014

Once I have been to the twin city of Hyderabad-Secunderabad, I was sure that I would cover all the famous tourist destinations of the city. And the name of the city immediately recalls the picture of Charminar Hyderabad. So when I finally visited the city I could not afford to miss this famous historical monument, as touring historical places is my passion. I decided to visit the Charminar in the evening so that I could watch the sunset from it. Compared to Secunderabad, Hyderabad is a much crowded city and the older one.

The Charminar is built at the midst of a busy road and is located the heart of the city. According to the history this monument was built at this location since Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah prayed for the end of a plague, which was devastating his city and swore to construct a Mosque at the very place where he prayed. To enter the four-pillared monument you need to spend a minimal amount for its tickets. You can climb up the monument till its top and have a view of the city from there. I loved the view from the top of the roads and people on it. The looks of the city also seems great from the height. And most of all the sunset from Charminar is something that I will treasure throughout my life. The snaps I took from there still adorn my desktop. The area around the Charminar is very crowded as it has many shops there and a busy street. People, vehicle, sound, commotion, everything makes the area very congested.

I have heard a lot about Hyderabad pearls. When I visited Charminar Hyderabad I came across many jewellery shops in that area which had nice collections of pearl sets. The price of the pearls varies depending on different varieties and colours. I bought some small jewellery for my mother and sister, as a memento from the place. I hoped they would like them! Being in Hyderabad, I also wanted to visit the mosques and dargahs and Mecca Masjid Hyderabad was a great place to begin.
