A Rare Treat For The Eyes And A Unique Bonding With Nature In Indira Gandhi Zoological Park!

March 10, 2015

While sitting in a cab on my way to my next destination Indira Gandhi Zoological Park I just took a shut eye and rested for a while as I knew I had a bit of walking to do in the park. As I got out of the cab and faced the world famous Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, I could feel my excitement surfacing yet again.

Named after the former prime minister of India, the park is sort of a testimony as of today. The six hundred and twenty five acres of land was first opened to the public in the year 1977 and still has visitors’ year around. The timings are 9 am to 5 pm and there are also bathroom facilities and camera and video was allowed inside the park.

I hopped on to the special mini train to avoid walking and tiring myself and it was indeed a mesmerising experience. We could see the majestic wild animals like tiger, deer, elephants and even animals from countries like Africa and Australia in these serene settings! I pulled out my camera once again and started clicking every carnivore, herbivore or bird in sight. With more than eighty species of animals in this park, my camera was sure running out of memory space!

There were exotic birds such as Macaws and Emus. I’ve always taken a special liking towards birds. They are extraordinary creatures and they look so effortless when they fly and so I spent most of the time I had in the bird sanctuary of the park.

I made a quick stop at canteen of the zoo and got myself some tasty treats. The samosa I bought was exceptionally good, but then again, what would I have known, to a hungry man even grass may be delicious!

After my hunger pangs were satiated, I strolled around some more and thought it was time to head back to the hotel because the sun was setting and the sky was turning into a dusty orange.

I exited the park feeling closer to nature than ever. I had a camera full of pictures and a stomach full of tasty snacks. I thought I covered enough of the city for a day and headed back to the hotel happy and content. I wanted to rejuvenate myself to face another exciting day in this historic city!
