As we entered, the ground floor had a display of paintings by the well-known painter K. Venkatappa, after whose name the gallery is known. He was born in1887 to a reverent family designated as court painters. This painter has astonishing works some of which include an incredible scene of the famous Ooty Lake, pitchersque outlook of Nilgiri Mountains, Kodaikanal, Sunrise in Ooty, a painting on Monsoon and other paintings. This painting made our visit really worth. These paintings even enhanced the original view.

On the first floor are the paintings of painters who have earned a respectable name with their work and are now renowned painters like M. F. Hussain, N. S. Bendre, Vasudev, Hanumaiah, Hariram, Rekha Rao, and Yusuf Arakkal and others. However, on this first floor of the Gallery, there is a section that is devoted to work of C. P. Rajaram’s in woodcarvings.

The second floor, one can appreciate the works of K.K Hebbar .His astonishing work of art is mostly based on elements like water, earth, Sea Shore, the wind, fire, and Death that are very popular. We were looking at every painting with admiration. Though, I had little interest in modern art, but I liked the work that was displayed in this Gallery. We spent a lot of time there and then came back to hotel. As it was our last day of vacation, we started packing our bags.
